Signs of Spiders in Your Home
Spotting the problem early makes treatment faster and cheaper. Call us if you notice any of these:
- Webs across windows, eaves, porch lights, and basement corners
- Spiders in sinks, tubs, and along baseboards
- Egg sacs attached to webs or hidden in stored items
- Increased activity in garages, sheds, and crawl spaces in fall
- Other insects present — spiders follow the food supply
Our Spider Treatment Process
- Step 1
Inspection
We identify the species and map activity zones. In NEPA, almost everything indoors is a harmless house, wolf, or sac spider.
- Step 2
Treatment
Web removal plus targeted residual applications to corners, entry points, and exterior eaves where spiders rebuild.
- Step 3
Source Reduction
Treating the insect population spiders feed on — and adjusting exterior lighting — removes the reason they settle in.
What does spiders treatment cost?
Every job starts with a free inspection and a firm written quote — no surprises, no pressure. For typical price ranges in Pennsylvania, see our cost guide.

How to Identify Spiders — and Why DIY Falls Short
The spiders NEPA homeowners actually meet are a predictable cast. Common house spiders build messy cobwebs in basement and garage corners. Wolf spiders are large, hairy ground hunters that sprint across floors in fall. Yellow sac spiders are pale and small and cause most minor bites, usually when trapped in clothing or bedding. Orb weavers spin the big circular webs on porches in late summer and are completely harmless.
Spiders are the most complained-about and least dangerous pest in Northeastern Pennsylvania homes. The species you actually find indoors — common house spiders in basement corners, wolf spiders darting across garage floors, yellow sac spiders along ceiling lines — are nuisance pests, not medical threats. Neither of the two medically significant spiders in the United States is established in Pennsylvania, despite persistent rumors.
Fall is spider season indoors. As temperatures drop in September and October, male spiders wander in search of mates and insects move inside, and suddenly every window frame has a web. Heavy spider activity is also diagnostic: spiders go where the food is, so a home full of spiders is a home with a healthy population of other insects. Controlling the prey is half of spider control.
Our spider service removes existing webs and egg sacs, treats corners, entry points, and eaves with residual products, and addresses the underlying insect activity that sustains the population. Simple changes help between visits: switch porch lights to warm-spectrum bulbs that attract fewer flying insects, keep firewood away from the foundation, and reduce clutter in basements and garages where spiders hide.
Spider Control — FAQ
Are there dangerous spiders in Pennsylvania?
Brown recluse and black widow spiders are not established in NEPA — verified encounters are extremely rare hitchhikers. The spiders in your home are nuisance species whose bites are uncommon and mild.
Why do I have so many spiders in my basement?
Basements offer humidity, quiet corners, and a steady supply of prey insects. Dehumidifying, decluttering, and treating the prey population reduces spiders more than chasing individual webs.
Do treatments keep spiders out for good?
Spiders continually wander in from outside, so one-time treatments fade. A quarterly perimeter program keeps both spiders and their prey at consistently low levels.
